Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has shared how his life improved following his son’s tragic passing.
In a conversation with media personality Akin Abolade, also known as Mrlilgaga, Aloba revealed the unexpected turn of events that brought him assistance from strangers.

“My life got better after Mohbad’s death because he was like a friend to me. He had plans to do so much for me, but circumstances didn’t allow him to. Since his passing, I’ve seen people come forward to help me, and I believe it’s the combined spirits of Mohbad and God directing them,” Aloba said.
He noted that the car and other items he now owns were gifts from compassionate individuals moved by his son’s (Mohbad) death.
Speaking further, Aloba alleged that Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, and her family had control over his late son’s assets, including a plot of land Mohbad had purchased for his father to build a church.
“Two weeks before his death, he took me to the house he intended to buy after his tour. He had already paid for it,” Aloba added.
Recounting his journey, Aloba explained that Mohbad’s birth inspired him to become a singer after the money from the naming ceremony was stolen. Mohbad, at just one-year-old, became his father’s backup singer.

Aloba, a carpenter, singer, and pastor without a church, said his son had promised to build him one before his untimely death. He also showed his block industry, a truck, and a Toyota Highlander gifted by well-meaning Nigerians.
In the wake of Mohbad’s death on September 11, 2023, at the age of 26, investigations revealed that an unlicensed nurse administered a tetanus vaccine to the singer before his demise.
Despite the tragedy, Aloba has continued to honor his son’s legacy, releasing nine songs since Mohbad’s passing and receiving ongoing support from those touched by the late singer’s life.
