The father of the late singer Mohbad has made fresh shocking revelations regarding his late son’s relationship with his widow, Omowunmi, raising new questions about their traditional marriage and the paternity of her child.
In a recorded statement, he clarified the events surrounding the family introduction he attended and firmly challenged claims that a full traditional wedding had taken place. He stressed that he had no knowledge of any bride-price payment, insisting that what occurred was merely an introduction ceremony.
According to him, “When my son was alive, and Cynthia claimed to be pregnant, I felt it was necessary to meet her family properly. When we got to the venue, I saw a lot of the lady’s family members sitting there. We completed the introduction, and I met my son’s father-in-law for the first time. But I was shocked to hear claims that a traditional wedding happened without any knowledge or even the presence of the family head. Who collected the bride price?”

He went on to allege that Mohbad had once resolved to formalise the marriage but later backed out after accusing Omowunmi of cheating. “He said he caught her with another man, informed his friend Myson and his elder sibling and mother, and then decided to tell me. That was why he called off the marriage plans.”
The grieving father explained that these issues form the basis of his continued demand for a paternity test, reiterating, “And that is one of the reasons why I’m asking for DNA.”
This latest statement adds a new twist to the ongoing conversations surrounding Mohbad’s death, his marriage, and unresolved family matters.
