Mikel Arteta Rallies Arsenal Ahead Of Crucial League Cup Clash Against Newcastle

With momentum on their side following a 5-1 demolition of Manchester City, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has vowed to go all out as his team looks to overturn a 2-0 first-leg deficit against Newcastle United in the League Cup semifinals.

Goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon had given Newcastle the upper hand in January’s first-leg clash at the Emirates, but Mikel Arteta believes Arsenal’s recent form and Newcastle’s home struggles give his side a fighting chance.

“The emotions in the team now are very different. The City game gave us a huge boost, and now it’s time for full gas—we’re ready to go for it,” Arteta told reporters on Tuesday.

Mikel Arteta: Despite their ambitions, Arsenal suffered a setback in the January transfer window, failing to reinforce their squad after Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus were sidelined with injuries.

“We had clear intentions to strengthen the squad, but we haven’t achieved it. We are disappointed, but we also want to be disciplined in signing the right players,” Arteta admitted.

Team News:

  • Ben White (knee) remains out and is expected back after the international break.
  • Bukayo Saka (hamstring) is still unavailable.

Arsenal, last crowned League Cup champions in 1993, will now aim for a Wembley final as they battle Newcastle at St. James’ Park.
