This isn’t the first time they would come online to fight.
That has been their pattern since their separation in 2017.
For Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe, Father’s Day has always been a time to reveal to the world that she caters for her two kids alone.
As her custom is, she would post a cryptic message on Father’s Day and throw subtle shade at her former husband, Lanre Gentry.
She would make sure that she disclosed who pays the bills and who is responsible for her kids upkeep including school fees.
On Sunday morning, which was Father’s Day 2021, the Nollywood actress posted her video and captioned it, “Happy Father’s Day to me and all the responsible fathers out there! 2 Kids ( 1 international student) …. changing naira to dollars with this dollar rate! Abeg it’s not easy!😢😂😁 but God has been Gracious! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Please no one should come and tell me how I shouldn’t take the shine off Fathers oh! (Fatherhood is beyond just impregnating a woman, if you are a man and do not perform your responsibilities towards your kids, Biko you ain’t fit to be called a Father and that’s on Period!!!!🙄)… So, Since I am playing the dual role in my children’s lives, allow me celebrate myself everyday! Cos it’s not easy!

Meanwhile, her estranged husband, who had been quiet for a long time on social media, took to Instagram, shared a video of some comedians dancing, and wrote:
“Happy fathers day to me and all the farther in the world may God be with you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ amen some women over there will say happy farthers day to them self when they her not good to be a morther or house wife to there children, but fathers allways make them happy when there in the house,with there housbad but you can’t blame them they have no good bagrand, they don’t have there parent together that is why they don’t know what fathers day his ,I thank God for my parents, thank you my father and my mother for staying together to make me what I am today happy farthers day to ones again. I’m a farther to all my children I pray for all fathers in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ amen.” (sic)
Of course that didn’t go unnoticed by the actress.
Mercy, who separated from Gentry in 2017 after he pummelled her, took to her handle on Instagram to respond.
Obviously not ready to return to Lanre Gentry, she had always indicated dating an anonymous lover who she refers to as ‘The Owner.’
Now infuriated by his post, she wrote, “Mr Lanre Gentry you better stop with the stupid lies! You better don’t just infuriate me! Gentry call your useless father to order oh cos, really I have had enough of his nonsense!!!!!
And the most irresponsible father award goes to my Ex! This shameless man who instead of him to cover his face in shame, will rather come online to post rubbish! I normally ignore you when you respond to my Father’s Day post! But you see this one! Bring it on!!!! I am READY!!!!!!! Alailojuti.”
It seems Mr Gentry is prepared for this war.
He didn’t allow Mercy’s rant to slip. Some minutes after, he took to his page and replied Mercy on her claims of paying dollars for her daughter’s school fees abroad.
Mercy’s daughter, Michelle is schooling in Manitoba, Canada.
Gentry wrote, “If you like take your children to moon is nobody’s business if you like pay in yen or dollar is nobody’s palaba I have helped you pay for another man’s durthar school fees before so.” (sic)
Fans and followers even condemned his typographical errors on many of the words used in his post but Gentry reminded them in the comment section that he is not Wole Soyinka and that’s how he would write!
Then, he posted a screenshot of what his ex wife wrote with this caption and tagged Mercy!
He wrote, “@realmecyaigbe, it doesn’t take me a minute to expose all your shady secrets callous inhuman and prostitution acts with all your so call marketer, but I will not ,because of my son Olajuwon and your very good mother. But when the time comes the whole world will still know the fake life you’re living and you need to stop all this your arrogant life.” (sic)
That must have unleashed fury in Mercy who ordered him to carry out his threats.
Calling him a ‘shameless man’ Mercy added that she is going on Instagram with evidence of Lanre’s irresponsible ways.
Mercy now wrote, “Abeg nobody should call me oh!!! This man wants to see craze! Lanre Gentry o fe ri werey! I am over ready for you! Today I go forget my home training! I go forget public figure! just bring it on!! shameless man! I am going live with receipt you are Agbaya ! Alainutiju.”
Even though Gentry has switched off the comment buttons on all the posts, he seems set to attack Mercy Aigbe whenever she writes again.
