pladis, a leading international manufacturer of biscuits and confectionery products, and owner of iconic brands, Godiva, McVitie’s, and Ulker, has launched a national consumer promotion in Nigeria to celebrate the 125th year anniversary of its famously known and loved The Original McVitie’s Digestive biscuits.

Pladis, trading as A&P Foods Limited in Nigeria, announced the consumer promotion at a media launch event held in Ikeja, Lagos recently. According to the company, the McVitie’s Digestive 125th Anniversary Promotion which commences on 1st July 2017 will run for 3 months till 30th September, 2017. Emerging at the end of the promotion period would be a total of 3 consumers who would win N1,000,000; 6 persons would be selected to win the N500,000 cash prizes; and a total of 15 persons would win N200,000 cash. In addition, tens of thousands of consumers would win airtime of various denominations – N100, N200 and N500.

Commenting on the decision to launch a consumer promotion campaign to celebrate this key milestone, Mr. Ali Jaber, Managing Director, Sub Sahara Africa said: “From the moment, McVitie’s entered into Nigeria in 1980, almost 40years ago, the McVitie’s range of biscuits, and the original Digestive in particular, has enjoyed a lot of love and support from our Nigerian consumers. We therefore decided to celebrate this great 125th year anniversary milestone by running a consumer promotion to reward our dear consumers who have made the McVitie’s Digestive biscuit, and the McVitie’s brand story a very successful one.”

To participate in the 125th anniversary promotion and stand the chance to win the exciting cash and airtime prizes, consumers need to:
• Buy any of the McVitie’s Digestive 125th Anniversary special promotion packs: 40g, 104g, 208g or 302g
• Look for the white label pasted on any of the special promotion packs
• Scratch the foil on the white label to reveal the unique promotion code
• Text the code on the white label to the SMS short code 55332 to enter the draws for a chance to win any of the promo prizes
Explaining the selection process, Mr. Kwame Wiafe, Managing Director, Nigeria, said “To make the McVitie’s Digestive 125th anniversary promotion transparent and fair, every mobile number that enters into the promotion would have an equal chance to win any of the airtime or cash prizes at any time throughout the duration of the promo, irrespective of when the number entered into the promo.”

Commenting specifically on the promotion, Mr. Ali Jaber further noted that, “the McVitie’s Digestive 125th Anniversary Promotion is the first ever from the McVitie’s brand in Nigeria. This campaign was driven by the fact that we constantly think of ways to uphold our company’s commitment to promise happiness to the world with every bite through our range of high quality and delicious tasting biscuit and confectionery products.”
Earlier this year in March, the company launched 2 new products – McVitie’s Digestive Choc Chip and McVitie’s Hobnobs Choc Chip (the original Digestive and Hobnobs biscuits with chocolate chips embedded in the biscuits) to the Nigerian market, expanding its portfolio of delicious tasting McVitie’s biscuits, currently being produced in Nigeria.
