Mayowa Lambe has issued a demand for N100 million in damages against her estranged husband, Roby Ekpo, accusing him of defamation and harassment following his recent public remarks about their past relationship.
The dispute resurfaced after Mayowa reportedly remarried in the United States, a development that surprised many observers as her previous marriage to Roby had not been publicly confirmed as dissolved.
The couple got married in November 2015, but had not formally announced their separation before news of her new marriage became public.
Tensions escalated after Roby appeared on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he discussed challenges in their marriage, particularly issues relating to intimacy. He also alleged that Mayowa secretly used contraceptives to avoid pregnancy.
Mayowa, however, appeared unbothered online, sharing posts suggesting she had moved on peacefully.
In a legal letter dated April 22 from her lawyers, she maintained that their marriage had already ended, stating that the separation was mutually agreed upon on May 11, 2025.
“Our client informs us that any prior traditional marital relationship between both parties was mutually terminated with the full knowledge and consent of both families prior to May 11, 2025. There has been no subsisting marital relationship since that date,” the letter stated.
She further accused Roby of spreading falsehoods intended to damage her image and attract public sympathy.
“It is deeply concerning that you have embarked on a deliberate and sustained campaign of falsehood, using online platforms and public broadcasts, including Honest Bunch, to disseminate fabricated narratives about Our Client.
“…These statements are not only untrue but appear calculated to mislead the public, attract attention, and generate sympathy at the expense of Our Cient’s reputation.”

Her legal team also insisted she has documentary evidence supporting her claims, including financial records and details of efforts made during their relationship.
“Contrary to your claims, our client possesses extensive and verifiable evidence, including: proof of financial responsibility and contributions made by our client throughout the relationship, documented attempts by our client to facilitate your relocation and advancement abroad.
“Medical and fertility-related records evidencing joint efforts toward conception, initiated and funded by our client.
“Your actions constitute serious defamation, causing emotional distress, reputational injury, and loss of goodwill, for which our client is entitled to substantial legal redress.”
She demanded that Roby stop making further statements about her, delete all alleged defamatory content, issue a public retraction and apology, and pay N100 million in damages within three days.
“Our demands are: You immediately cease and desist from further publication or repetition of all defamatory statements,” the letter added.
“Remove all existing defamatory content across all platforms. c. Issue a clear, unqualified, and public retraction of all false statements. d. Publish a full public apology to our client via the same platforms used to disseminate the defamatory content. e. Pay the sum of NI00,000,000.00 as damages.
“Failure to comply within three (3) days will result in immediate legal proceedings.”
