Atlético de Madrid have officially signed Nigerian international Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, with the 28-year-old forward committing to a four-year contract running until 30 June 2030.
The club announced the acquisition on Monday, highlighting Lookman’s impressive spell in Bergamo, where he re-established himself as one of Europe’s most decisive attackers.
“Atlético de Madrid and Atalanta have agreed on the transfer of Ademola Lookman, who has signed for us until 30 June 2030,” the club said in a statement on their official website.
“Our new signing passed his medical at the Vithas-Invictum High-Performance Sports Medicine Centre at Arturo Soria University Hospital in Madrid, before heading to the club offices at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. There, he was greeted by our Chief Executive Officer, Miguel Ángel Gil, with whom he signed his contract with our club. Welcome, Lookman!”
Born in Wandsworth, London, on 20 October 1997, Lookman came through the youth ranks at Waterloo FC and Charlton Athletic, making his senior debut for Charlton in November 2015.

He has since played in both the Premier League and Bundesliga, featuring for Everton, RB Leipzig, Fulham, and Leicester City, before joining Atalanta in the summer of 2022.
Lookman enjoyed his most prolific period at Atalanta, making 137 appearances, scoring 55 goals, and providing 27 assists. He played a key role in the club’s historic 2023/24 UEFA Europa League triumph, scoring a hat-trick in the 3–0 final victory over Bayer Leverkusen, handing the German side their only defeat of the season and securing Atalanta’s first-ever continental trophy.
On the international stage, Lookman represented England at youth levels, winning the 2017 FIFA Under-20 World Cup. He later switched allegiance to Nigeria, making his senior debut for the Super Eagles in March 2022, and has since earned 41 caps, scoring 11 goals.
