The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has dismissed widespread rumours that she has resigned from her position.

Her Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye, debunked the speculation on Wednesday, stating: “I’m in the office. The speaker is in the office. I don’t know where that is coming from.”
Background
An unverified circular dated February 17, 2025, allegedly released by Meranda, had been making rounds online, claiming she had stepped down. However, closer scrutiny of the document revealed that it was not signed by anyone.
Political Turmoil in the Assembly
The Lagos Assembly has been experiencing a leadership crisis following the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa by a majority of lawmakers.
Despite the controversy, Meranda remains in office, and the Lagos Assembly is yet to issue an official statement regarding the situation.
