The Lagos State Police Command has ordered an official investigation into Chris Okafor, senior pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, following widespread sexual misconduct allegations circulating on social media.
The directive came from the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, who instructed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to summon Okafor for questioning and to call alleged victims and witnesses to provide statements.
“The CP has directed the SCID to invite the pastor for investigation, despite the fact that no one has formally come forward to report,” Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said. She added that witnesses will be interviewed to assist the inquiry.
The investigation follows public outrage after actress Doris Ogala accused Okafor of sexual misconduct spanning nearly a decade. In emotional Instagram videos posted on 14 December 2025, Ogala alleged her relationship with the pastor began in 2017, continued for nine years, and involved unfulfilled promises of marriage. She further claimed that Okafor shared explicit photos and contributed to the breakdown of her previous marriage.

During a church service, Okafor publicly apologised, kneeling on the pulpit and admitting to past “mistakes” while seeking forgiveness. Earlier, on 16 December 2025, he married a new bride, Pearl, in a ceremony attended by prominent clerics.
Adebisi also revealed that she reached out to a YouTuber who had interviewed alleged victims to obtain direct links to witnesses, facilitating the investigation. Other women have since come forward with accusations including manipulation, infidelity, and sexual misconduct. Okafor’s former wife, Bessem Okafor, alleged that the pastor engaged in infidelity, deception, and physical assault.
Despite the allegations, some members of Mountain of Liberation have defended the pastor, dismissing the claims as attempts to extort money.
Authorities confirmed that no formal petition had been filed prior to CP Jimoh’s directive, highlighting that the investigation was initiated due to public concern and media reports. The Lagos SCID is expected to provide updates as Okafor is questioned and witnesses submit statements, signalling the seriousness of the probe.
