The remains of late Mr. Symphorosa Otike-Odibi were interred on Thursday amidst tears in Lagos.

The deceased, who was a lawyer, was murdered by his wife, Udeme on May 5, 2018.

Late Symphorosa

She allegedly used a knife she had just bought to rip her husband’s stomach open, sliced off his penis and placed it in his right hand inside their home at Diamond Estate, Ogombo, at Sango-Tedo area of Ajah, in Lagos.

At the court on Wednesday, the chief magistrate declined Udeme’s request to stop the planned burial of her murdered husband, Symphorosa Otike-Odibi.
The court ruled that such action would be a rude interruption of the right of the dead.
Udeme had made the request through her lawyer on the ground that the result of the autopsy carried out on the deceased was not made available to them.
Chief Magistrate Ayeye said if necessary, the body could still be exhumed for further investigation.

Mr. Odibi was aged 50, divorced his first wife, and married Udeme, also a lawyer, three years ago.
He is survived by his teenage daughter from his first marriage.
He had no child from Udeme.
