The Lagos State Government has warned motorists and residents of possible traffic congestion around the Pen Cinema–Agege axis on Wednesday as it prepares to inaugurate a Fresh Food Hub in the area.
The advisory was issued by the state Ministry of Transportation in a statement posted on its official X account on Tuesday.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is expected to inaugurate the facility between 11am and 3pm at Pen Cinema, Agege. The event is being organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems.
The ministry said the inauguration was likely to draw a significant number of vehicles and people to the area, potentially affecting traffic movement.
“Due to the high volume of vehicular and human traffic expected around the Pen Cinema–Agege axis on account of the event, motorists plying this route are advised to plan their movement ahead of time to reduce congestion and delay,” the statement said.
To manage the anticipated congestion, the government said personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority would be stationed around the area.

“As is routine for events of this nature, officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be deployed to manage traffic flow and minimise inconvenience to road users within the axis and its environs,” the ministry said.
Motorists and commuters were encouraged to consider alternative routes and cooperate with traffic officials throughout the event.
“Motorists and commuters are advised to use alternative routes where possible during the period of the event and to exercise patience while transiting the area,” it added.
The ministry said the traffic advisory was issued to minimise disruption for residents and other road users around Pen Cinema and its surrounding areas.
“The state government regrets any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all road users as it continues to deliver projects that improve the livelihood of Lagosians,” the statement said.
