A Lagos Magistrate Court in Yaba has dismissed allegations against Nigerian singer Naira Marley, music promoter Sammy Larry, and Prime Boy regarding their alleged involvement in the tragic death of singer Mohbad.

Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, passed away on September 24, 2023, sparking public outrage, conspiracy theories, and multiple investigations into the circumstances surrounding his sudden demise.
Court Ruling & New Prosecution
Despite months of court trials and police investigations, the cause of Mohbad’s death remains undetermined. However, in a ruling on February 25, 2025, the Lagos Magistrate Court formally cleared Naira Marley, Sammy Larry, and Prime Boy of any wrongdoing.
Furthermore, the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) announced that legal action would instead be taken against:
- Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad before his death.
- Ayobami Sodiq, a friend of the late singer.
Mixed Reactions from Nigerians
The ruling has triggered widespread reactions from Nigerians, with many expressing skepticism about the justice system:
- Mary Enakpoke: “😂😂 So you people thought we were expecting justice? That’s funny! Who doesn’t know the only crime in Nigeria is poverty?”
- Pleasure Somoto: “They should just let him rest and leave justice to God. Everyone will die one day.”
- Ann Adra: “The family should just let Mohbad rest in peace.”
- Osaiogbo Efe: “What about the wife? She still hasn’t fully explained what happened that night. Young men, please be careful when choosing a life partner.”
What’s Next?
With the case against Naira Marley and others now closed, attention will likely shift to the prosecution of the nurse and Mohbad’s friend. Meanwhile, fans and family members continue to demand clearer answers regarding the singer’s sudden passing.
