Nkechi Rhodes-Vivour, mother of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Lagos, has passed away.
Gbadebo, who was the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in the 2023 Lagos governorship election, announced the news in a statement shared on X on Monday.
He wrote, “With sadness in our hearts and gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the call to glory of Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (Nee Waboso).”
Describing her as a pillar of the family, he added, “A loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. The epitome of Love. She will be sorely missed. May her beautiful soul rest in perfect peace. Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.”

Nkechi became widely known during the 2023 election campaign, when she actively supported her son’s governorship bid and participated in efforts to rally voters.
Following the election, she publicly alleged that vote buying was widespread and criticised security agencies for failing to arrest those responsible.
