At a conference in Abuja on Tuesday, prominent women from Kogi demanded that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu re-appoint Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu as the current minister of state for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The ladies who make up the Kogi ladies Alliance for Ododo 2023 recalled how Mrs. Aliyu’s agitation in the FCT as a minister resulted to the modest victories the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded.

The group’s Convener, Hajia Memunat Sanni, and Secretary, Dr. Josephine Audu, specifically recalled how Aliyu staged a large demonstration in Abuja in favour of Tinubu and carried the campaign to the six Area Councils of the FCT, where stakeholders were involved.

In spite of the odds, the APC managed to win three chairperson posts in the FCT Area Council elections last year thanks in part to the mobilisation of Aliyu.

The women said that after doing well in her most recent tour, the former minister deserved to be honoured and given further responsibilities.

According to the report, Aliyu played a significant part in several victories for the party, including in her home state of Kogi, as a previous women leader of the APC before being appointed in 2019 by the outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari.

The leaders said that Aliyu and Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello got along well when establishing the APC in the State and ousting other political parties.

“Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu is an asset to Kogi State,” the statement stated. She has made no effort to hide the fact that she is a tower of strength. She is continuing to support both the APC candidate and Governor Yahaya Bello in the approaching gubernatorial race in the State.

She performed admirably on her most recent national assignment despite all the obstacles her opponents had placed in her path. She had every opportunity to fail, yet she managed to achieve.

She made sure that Area Councils were adequately overseen and that elected Council chairmen were required to provide FCT people with the benefits of democracy.

“Aliyu performed the unfathomable during the COVID-19 epidemic when she made sure that the palliatives given reached the people who needed to receive them. The care for common people was provided, and the records are available.

“Mrs. Aliyu performed well in the FCT’s primary healthcare and agriculture sectors. We are utilising this platform to urge President Tinubu to nominate her as a minister and consider employing such a valuable asset for a national task.

“Tinubu honours dedication and commitment. And we have hope that things won’t be any different this time. Aliyu merits praise, and Tinubu ought to provide it by selecting her.
