On Tuesday, skit maker cum Nollywood actor, Kamo christened his newborn baby girl and surprised everyone when he named it after Funke Akindele
Actor and content creator Kamo State and his wife Esther Olamide have named their newborn daughter after actress Funke Akindele in appreciation of her support during the pregnancy and childbirth.
The couple, who welcomed their baby girl in April, held the naming ceremony on Tuesday in Lagos.
Kamo shared a video from the event on Instagram with the caption: “So blessed to name our child today! Sonia Olufunke Oluwatamilore.”

The naming follows Kamo’s earlier public tribute to Funke, whom he described as “an angel in human form.”
He disclosed that the filmmaker offered to fly his wife abroad when she first found out about the pregnancy.
“I’ll never forget the nights you spent by my side at the hospital… Even when I told you about the pregnancy late, you were ready to fly my wife to the US for the baby’s birth,” he wrote.
Kamo went on to praise Akindele for helping secure one of the best doctors in Lagos and for covering all hospital expenses.
Despite being on a family trip to Dubai, she made sure Kamo remained with his wife and kept in touch with them daily.
“You told your driver and security to follow us to the hospital even if we called at midnight, ensuring we were safe and sound,” he added.
According to the actor, Funke constantly prayed for his wife and reminded him to do the same. He also revealed that she funded the entire naming ceremony, including food and outfits.
“Your generosity knows no bounds, and your love is a gift I cherish every single day,” he wrote.
“I pray that God blesses you abundantly… I’ll spend a lifetime trying to repay the kindness you’ve shown me.”
