The race for the Round House, Alausa, in the governorship poll slated for February 2019 will be a contest between the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Jimi Agbaje, and that of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Mr Jimi Agbaje, vying for the office for the third time, defeated Mr Deji Doherty to clinch the ticket of the PDP as its candidate for the governorship poll.
Agbaje polled 1,100 votes to defeat Doherty who scored 742 votes in the PDP primary election held on Friday.
The contest for the Lagos State governorship position will be a fight between Sanwo-Olu of the APC, having defeated the incumbent governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, in a primary poll widely contested by Lagosians, and Agbaje.
Agbaje contested in 2007 on the platform of the Democratic People’s Alliance (DPA) and lost to Mr Babatunde Fashola; in 2015 he also contested on the platform of the PDP against Governor Ambode and lost.
