Instagram influencer Nnanyereugo Benjamin Best, also known as Killaboi, who had been declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command on October 10, 2023, for his alleged involvement in the murder of his girlfriend, Augusta Onuwabhagbe Osedion, has been apprehended in Sierra Leone.
Best was accused of killing Augusta, a 21-year-old woman, during a dispute that resulted in her being fatally stabbed on July 13, 2023, at his residence in Oral Estate, Ajah.
Following the alleged crime, the suspect reportedly acquired a Sierra Leonean passport and adopted the alias Kanu Princeton Samuel before fleeing Nigeria on July 28, 2023.
The image of the suspect had been circulated on various social media platforms, aiding in his identification. A concerned individual in Sierra Leone reportedly recognized him and contacted the victim’s mother through social media.
The mother then sought assistance from her lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), who helped the family establish contact with the Sierra Leonean police authorities.
This arrest underscores the role of social media in facilitating information sharing and aiding in the identification and apprehension of individuals involved in criminal activities across borders.
