Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy, born Damini Ogulu, has stirred conversations online with his bold statements about authenticity, integrity, and self-preservation as 2024 comes to a close.

In a series of Instagram comments on Monday, Burna Boy emphasized his commitment to “positivity, peace, and prosperity” but candidly declared, “Honestly, I’d rather kill you than die for you.”

The Afrobeat superstar also addressed frequent comparisons to Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, asserting his individuality: “I’m not Fela, I’m BIG7.

Taking aim at what he described as a growing culture of dishonesty, Burna Boy highlighted instances of alleged falsehoods in the public eye. Without naming names, he called out individuals for claiming ownership of luxury properties and items:

  • “If you ever lied about buying Sujimoto’s house in Banana Island when you only rented it, do better in 2025.”
  • “If you have an aftermarket ‘rainbow Daytona,’ please stop telling people it’s real. Do better in 2025.”

The outspoken singer added, “It should be a criminal offence to tell as many lies as certain men.”

Burna Boy’s comments, as usual, have sparked debates among fans and critics, with many reflecting on the broader themes of authenticity and integrity in both celebrity culture and daily life.
