Ibadan Funfair Stampede: Queen Naomi’s Sister Narrates Ordeal

It’s going to be a horrible festive season for Queen Naomi and family after the stampede that occurred in Ibadan on December 18, 2024.

Simi Oluwaseyi, Queen Naomi’s sister has taken to social media to express her displeasure as her sister is still remanded at Agodi Correctional Centre over the deadly stampede in Ibadan.

Since the sad incident took place, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi has been incarcerated alongside Mr Oriyomi Hamzat and others.

Oluwaseyi revealed in an Instagram Story post on Wednesday that she has been trying to understand why her sister is facing murder charges.

“I need lawyers to educate me on why my sister was charged for Murder. Okay she has been brought before the law, why is she being charged for murder????” she asked.

“This is the question I have been asking since yesterday. Since the day she was detained, the answer has been order from above. Who is the order from above ????? If you have personal vendetta with my sister come out in the open, don’t go through corners! Come out and convict her of murder yourself!”

Earlier, she wrote that her sister is being treated “like a terrorist”.

Oluwaseyi said their mother begged for several days before she was allowed to see Silekunola.

My mummy had to beg everyday before she was allowed entry. She was not allowed to use her phone. I had to beg for her son to be allowed to see her at the police hospital,” she wrote.

A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan on Tuesday ordered the remand of Queen Naomi and others over the stampede which occurred on December 18 at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan.

According to the police, 35 minors died in the stampede while six others were critically injured.

The defendants are facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, murder and negligent acts causing harm.
