The ongoing feud between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has taken a personal turn, as her husband, Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, has publicly stepped in, demanding that Akpabio accord his wife the respect she deserves.
Uduaghan, the Alema of Warri Kingdom, broke his silence on Saturday, revealing that while he had initially chosen to stay out of the controversy, recent events compelled him to speak up.
“I would never trade her for anything, as she is the greatest joy of my life,” he declared in a statement made available to journalists in Warri, Delta State.
Expressing concern over the distractions surrounding the matter, he emphasized that Natasha was elected by her people because of their unwavering confidence in her ability to deliver quality representation.
“She is committed to serving her district and the nation at large,” he said, describing his wife as a devoted partner and a woman of integrity, even in difficult times.
Uduaghan disclosed that Natasha had confided in him about her interactions with Akpabio, whom he once considered a family friend. In response, he had sought a peaceful resolution, even meeting with Akpabio personally to appeal for civility.
“Despite an agreement to resolve the issue amicably, my wife continues to express concerns about the harassment she has endured from the Senate President,” he revealed.
Reaffirming his unwavering faith in his wife and their marriage, Uduaghan urged the Senate and Akpabio to treat Natasha with the dignity she deserves while allowing the courts to address the matter.
