Billionaire businessman Tunde Ayeni is opening up again on his former mistress, Adaobi Alagwu. After going back and forth the court and asking her to vacate the N400 million residence after discovering that her daughter was not his. He is now expressing his feelings on the ordeal.
Businessman and philanthropist Tunde Ayeni has opened up about his turbulent relationship with his ex-mistress Adaobi Alagwu, expressing deep regret over ever meeting her.
In an interview, Ayeni addressed the controversy surrounding his alleged marriage to Adaobi, categorically denying ever marrying her in any traditional or statutory capacity. He emphasised that any reference to her as his wife is false.
“I regret ever meeting her. I wish I had never come across her at all,” he stated bluntly.
Ayeni, a former chairman of the defunct Skye Bank, clarified that although he and Adaobi were in a relationship for about four years, things took a downward turn in 2022 when he decided to end it.
“She was someone I dated for a period, but it is important to note that dating someone does not equate to marrying them,” he said.
According to Ayeni, Adaobi became upset when he chose to reconcile with his wife and focus on rebuilding his family. This, he said, led to a campaign of defamation and harassment orchestrated by her through social media and blogs.
“People have turned social media into a tool for blackmail and mischief. I am a very private person. I have never gone online to respond to anything about my private life,” he added.
He accused Adaobi of trying to ruin his reputation by creating false narratives, including claims that she helped him regain financial stability and influenced political appointments on his behalf. He debunked those claims, stating they were fabrications with no basis in truth.
On whether he ever took part in any marriage rites with Adaobi, Ayeni insisted: “I never took any of the traditional or legal steps that would amount to marriage. I did not pay bride price. I did not sign any registry document. There was no wedding ceremony with her Christian or traditional.”
Ayeni also said he has evidence of being blackmailed and threatened by Adaobi and has since petitioned the police.
“I’ve kept quiet for too long,” he said. “But this silence has only emboldened her to spread more falsehood. Now, I have to speak up.”
The businessman reiterated his commitment to his family and asked the public to disregard any reports that portray Adaobi as his wife.
