The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has shared a moving testimony about how he handled expensive gifts during the early phase of his ministry.
Speaking at the church’s thanksgiving service, Pastor Adeboye recounted how an elderly woman once surprised him with a Mercedes Benz at a time when he was still travelling by public transport.
“I almost said, ‘Alakoba wo le leyi?’ I hope this one is not trying to get me into trouble,” he said.
Unsure of what to do with such a costly gift, he explained that he parked the car and avoided using it. However, he later received a divine rebuke in a dream for rejecting the woman’s act of generosity.
“Why are you robbing my daughter of her blessing? She sowed a seed, and you are not allowing the seed to germinate,” he quoted God as telling him.
Following the instruction, Pastor Adeboye said he handed the vehicle to his late deputy, Pastor Abiodun. Although he was advised to keep and enjoy the car, he insisted on giving it away.
He revealed that shortly after, he unexpectedly received three more Mercedes Benz vehicles, describing the experience as astonishing.

While still reflecting on what to do with the new gifts, he said another man arrived at his residence around 2:00am in a rare six-door Mercedes limousine, explaining that God had instructed him to deliver it immediately.
“I said to God, ‘Even if I die and they put me in this car, I will wake up. Will you permit me to sell the car?’” he recalled.
After praying, Pastor Adeboye said he received approval and proceeded to sell the luxury vehicle.
“I remember I sold it and used the money to buy motorcycles for my pastors,” he concluded.
