Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has opened up on the measures put in place to protect his latest movie, Ageshinkole 2, from piracy, a move he says contributed significantly to the film’s strong financial performance.
In an interview, Adebayo disclosed that the task of safeguarding the movie from illegal distribution was handled by Circuit TV, one of the key partners on the project. He noted that their system proved effective, as the film went on to generate over N400 million within just 12 days of release.
Explaining how the collaboration worked, he said, “Piracy was fully handled by circuit TV. They have an extremely wonderful structure in which the content they have can be pirated. Then with Blue Pictures, my distributor, we brought together our experience and we had no doubts that with our logistics and framework, we would get it right.”
The filmmaker also acknowledged the contribution of Blue Pictures, stressing that the collective experience of all parties involved ensured smooth distribution and delivery.
In December 2025, Adebayo unveiled Ageshinkole 2: King of Thieves 2 using a Community Cinema tour that took the film directly to audiences across Nigeria. The approach departed from conventional cinema releases and was designed to reach grassroots viewers while limiting opportunities for piracy.

He described the initiative as both an innovative distribution model and a way of appreciating loyal fans by bringing the cinema experience closer to their communities.
Adebayo added that the sequel expands on the success of the original Ageshinkole film, promising more intense drama, suspense and culturally grounded storytelling. The community screenings ran throughout December 2025 and extended into early January 2026.
