Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, has officially submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms for the 2027 governorship election.
Hamzat announced the development on Thursday via his official X account, describing his ambition as a continuation of service aimed at improving living conditions across the state.
“Today, I submitted my expression of interest and nomination forms for the 2027 gubernatorial election. This journey is about service, responsibility, and building a Lagos that works better for every family, every business and every person that calls this state home,” he wrote.
The deputy governor, who has served alongside Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu since 2019, said although progress had been made in Lagos, more work still lies ahead.
“We have made progress together but there is still more to do. I am stepping forward with experience, purpose and a deep belief in the future of our state. The journey to a greater Lagos continues,” he added.
Hamzat’s formal submission strengthens his position in the race after receiving significant backing within the ruling party structure in the state.
