MAKURDI, BENUE STATE – Two students of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM) were abducted by gunmen on Tuesday night outside the university’s campus, sparking panic among students.

According to reports from a student, Ashar Lubem, four students were kidnapped, though Benue State Police Command confirmed only two abductions in their official statement.

“Some gunmen kidnapped four students outside campus yesterday evening. We have yet to hear from them. Everyone is in a panic mood because of the incident,” Lubem said.

Police Launch Investigation

Benue Police Public Relations Officer, Sewuese Anene, confirmed the abduction and assured that authorities have begun investigations.

“We received the information yesterday evening that two students were kidnapped. We have commenced an investigation, and further details will be provided soon,” Anene stated.

The incident has heightened fears among students and residents as security concerns grow in the region.
