Armed men have reportedly attacked a secondary school in Ahoro-Esinele community, located in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, abducting the school principal and several students.
The incident occurred on Friday morning between 8:00 am and 9:00 am at Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, according to the Oyo State Police Command.
Confirming the attack in a statement, police spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the gunmen invaded the school premises and took away an unspecified number of students along with the principal, Mrs Rachael Alamu.
“Gunmen have invaded Ahoro-Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, abducting the principal of a secondary school and an unspecified number of students,” the statement read.
The police spokesperson added that information gathered from residents indicated that one of the teachers was shot during the attack, although details about the victim’s condition remain unclear.

“The source also said a teacher was shot during the attack, though the extent of the injury has not been confirmed.
“According to the report, the gunmen fled the scene with the principal in her vehicle and escaped into a forest reserve bordering the community.
“Residents said the nearest police station is some distance away, which delayed immediate response,” he said.
The police command disclosed that the Commissioner of Police has deployed security operatives to the area to assess the situation and begin rescue operations.
