Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has strongly denied having any form of relationship with former Big Brother Naija star, Nengi Rebecca Hampson, following widespread rumors linking them.
Speculations had surfaced claiming that Nengi recently welcomed a child allegedly fathered by Governor Diri, who is already married to four wives. The claims gained traction after controversial blogger, Gistlover, shared a cryptic post suggesting that the reality star had a baby for a governor.
Governor’s Spokesperson Dismisses Claims
Reacting to the viral rumors, the governor’s spokesperson, Dr. Kola Oredipe, dismissed the allegations as baseless and fabricated. He stated that there is no personal relationship between Governor Diri and Nengi.
“Nengi Rebecca Hampson has no personal relationship with Governor Diri. Regrettably, purveyors of fake news are not happy with the towering political profile of the governor,” Oredipe said.
He further condemned the spread of false information on social media, calling it a distraction from the government’s achievements.
“Sadly, while we were inaugurating a brand new road in Yenagoa, social media e-rats were busy spreading falsehoods about the governor,” he added.
The governor’s team has urged the public to disregard the claims, emphasizing that such rumors are aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
