After flight delays that caused a postponement in the interment of the remains of former First lady of Gombe State, Hajiya Fatima Yelwa Goje, the funeral finally held on Thursday.
The funeral rites took place at the palace of the Emir of Gombe after which the remains were interred.
The mammoth crowd which accompanied the motorcade from the airport to the Emir’s palace depicted what the late Hajiya stood for. Tears flowed freely.
Present to condole with the husband, Senator Danjuma Goje were politicians, friends and family members. Representing the Senate at the burial was the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and some other senators.
The family had in a statement by Ahmad Mohammed Goje said Hajiya Yelwa died last Monday in the United States of America where she had gone for medical attention.
She is survived by her husband, Senator Goje and children.
Paying tribute to the late wife of the Senator, Mrs. Saraki described Hajiya Yelwa Goje as a dependable friend whose advice and team spirit would be greatly missed.
