Police in Kano say they have arrested a 19-year-old girl, Mariya Suleiman, for allegedly stabbing her 30-year-old brother, Sani Suleiman, to death.
Kano police spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna, in a statement on Sunday said the incident occurred on Saturday around 8 pm at Badawa Quarters, Kano.
Mr Haruna said that preliminary investigations revealed that the teenage girl and her brother had a misunderstanding before she stabbed him to death.
“The misunderstanding occurred when the victim ordered that the music going on during the marriage ceremony of one of their sisters be stopped which Suleiman resisted, in the process, she used a knife and stabbed him on his neck,” the statement said.
The victim died at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Hospital in Kano.
The statement said the commissioner of police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.
