According to a statement released by the German Embassy, the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, will visit Nigeria from December 10 to 12, 2024.

During his time in Abuja, President Steinmeier will hold meetings with:

  • President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will discuss bilateral relations.
  • Dr. Alieu Omar Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission, focuses on regional cooperation.

In Lagos, his itinerary includes:

  • Interactions with business leaders and visits to a start-up hub.
  • Engagements with cultural and civil society figures like Dr. Nike Okundaye and Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka.
  • A tour of Lagos to understand its urban development challenges, including environmental and social issues.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier will accompany a high-level delegation of German business executives, highlighting Germany’s growing interest in Nigeria’s IT, high-tech, and energy sectors.
