Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has revealed that federal workers across all levels will receive a sum of 25,000 naira as a palliative measure to mitigate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal.
This announcement was made by Gbajabiamila following a meeting between the Federal Government and organized labor at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
He stated, “The 25,000 naira earlier announced by President Tinubu for low-grade federal workers as an intervention is now to cut across all levels of workers.”
The statement came as a response to the ongoing discussions with the National Labour Union (NLC) and the Trade Union Commission (TUC) regarding the impending nationwide strike scheduled for October 3rd.
This meeting convened at the Chief of Staff’s behest, is attended by several ministers. Last Tuesday, the organized labor, including the leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), had announced their decision to commence an indefinite strike on October 3rd.
