Francis Van-Lare, father-in-law to the late Dr. Ikenna Erinne, has dismissed claims that the U.S.-based Nigerian cardiologist took his own life due to a $15,000 monthly child support ruling.

In a statement on Monday, Francis Van-Lare clarified that Erinne was only required to pay $1,900, which he allegedly paid partially at times.
Dr. Ikenna Erinne: Refuting viral reports portraying Erinne as a peaceful individual, Van-Lare shared restraining order documents from the Maryland Court circuit, alleging that the deceased doctor had a history of domestic issues.
“Liars everywhere! He killed himself to avoid paying $1,900, which he sometimes paid partially. He was never ordered to pay $15,000 per month as alleged. Deadbeat dad!” he wrote.
Van-Lare further alleged that before Dr. Ikenna Erinne’s tragic death, he held his estranged partner and their children hostage at gunpoint for three hours before ultimately turning the weapon on himself when police arrived.
According to him, the doctor was facing three counts of kidnapping with a deadly weapon, each carrying a 25-year to life prison sentence.
“I guess he decided to end his life instead of facing the charges,” Van-Lare said.
Despite the shocking details, Van-Lare expressed sympathy for Dr. Ikenna Erinne’s family, emphasizing that his daughter should not be blamed for the doctor’s tragic decision.
