Mother of late Tunji Okusanya, aka MIC, Mama Juliana Olayemi Okusanya, is dead.
Tunji Okusanya who founded the funeral palour, MIC, died alongside his first son, Tunji Jnr, four years ago in the Associated Airline crash that occurred in Lagos while the remains of former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Agagu were being conveyed to Akure for funeral rites and interment.
She was reported to have died peacefully in the arms of her two surviving children on July 10, 2017 at her home in the Palm grove area of Lagos.
She was aged 95.
When the sad incident occurred, it was just about a month before Mama Okusanya (who was a widow) clocked 91.
She would have clocked 95 this November.
Last year, the mother of the late undertaker, who apparently was yet to get over the shock of the death of her son and grandson granted CityScoop an exclusive interview, the only one she ever granted. Despite her age (as at the time she granted the interview) the nonagenarian was still agile and full of life. She was still moving around unaided and looked healthy.
In the touching interview, she spoke about her son’s last days with her, as well as how she received the bad news.
Mama was an Australian-trained nurse. She retired as a Matron at the General Hospital, Ikeja 21 years ago.
Late Mama Okusanya is survived by two children—Mrs. Modupe Onagoruwa and Mr. Toyin Okusanya, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The deceased also enjoyed a robust relationship with her late son’s wife, Pastor Adebola Okusanya while alive. Her daughter-in-law was also with her when she breathed her last.
