No fewer than five persons were injured on Sunday after a major road accident involving several vehicles at the Toll Gate axis of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State.
The crash, which occurred at about 11:35 a.m., involved a truck, six cars and two tricycles carrying a total of 11 occupants, according to traffic officials.
The Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident on Monday in Ota through the News Agency of Nigeria.
He stated that five people—three females and two males—sustained injuries of varying severity, while the remaining occupants were not harmed.
Akinbiyi said, “Three of the injured victims were taken to the General Hospital, Ota, for treatment, while the other two were taken to undisclosed hospitals by their family members.”
Preliminary findings linked the crash to speeding and mechanical failure.
According to him, the truck with registration number TRN 71 XB reportedly experienced brake failure, leading the driver to lose control before crashing into other vehicles on the highway.
