There was tension on Monday morning at the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja after a fire broke out in a section of the office of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
According to eyewitnesses, the blaze was first noticed around 8:20 a.m., triggering panic within the government complex. Videos circulating on social media showed thick black smoke rising from part of the building.
The fire reportedly started in Section C of the structure, prompting workers in the area to quickly evacuate after emergency services were alerted.
The media department of the Office of the Head of Service later confirmed the incident, noting that the situation was being handled by emergency responders.

“The fire outbreak is limited to Section C of the building and is currently being attended to by emergency officials,” the office said.
Authorities have not yet revealed what caused the fire as investigations are expected to determine the source of the incident.
