President Bola Tinubu has dismissed six ministers in his first cabinet reshuffle since he was sworn into power on May 29, 2023.

The ministers dismissed are Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, Lola Ade-John, Prof. Tahir Mamman, Abdullahi Gwarzo, Jamila Ibrahim and Betta Edu.

Kennedy-Ohanenye was minister of women affairs, Ade-John was minister of tourism and Mamman was minister of education.

Others are Gwarzo, the minister of state, housing and urban development, and Ibrahim who was minister of youth development.

The Presidency stated this in a release on Wednesday after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

The release said the shake-up is aimed at enhancing the efficiency of Tinubu’s administration.

Edu was earlier suspended from her role as the minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty reduction over alleged misappropriation of funds.

Edu has been replaced by Nentawe Yilwatda.

Kennedy-Ohanenye was also replaced by Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim (formerly minister of state, police affairs).

Morufu Alausa, formerly minister of state for health, was assigned Mamman’s position as minister of education.

Yusuf Ata was nominated as minister of state for housing and urban development to replace Gwarzo.

Ayodele Olawande, who was minister of state for youth development, was elevated to minister for youth development, replacing Ibrahim.
