The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed the death of a former Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), David Parradang, who was found dead in an Abuja hotel room, hours after lodging with a female guest.

FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, debunked reports that Parradang was kidnapped and murdered, clarifying in a statement on Tuesday that he had checked into Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction, on March 3, 2025, around 12 noon, driving a black Mercedes Benz.

According to Adeh, the retired immigration chief paid ₦22,000 for a one-night stay and was later joined by a female guest. “Shortly thereafter, he directed the hotel room attendant to escort a female guest who had come to visit to his room. The lady left the hotel premises around 4 pm on the same day,” she stated.

Parradang reportedly remained in his room after the woman’s departure. Around 4 am on March 4, a military officer who was a friend of the deceased, concerned about his wellbeing, traced him to the hotel. Upon arrival, the officer and hotel staff entered his room and found him lifeless, seated in a chair.

The Durumi Police Station was alerted, and officers promptly arrived to secure the scene, take photographs, and collect evidence. His body was later moved to the National Hospital for further examination.

In response to speculation that Parradang had been kidnapped and murdered, Adeh dismissed such claims, urging the public to avoid spreading unverified information.

“The FCT Police Command is committed to conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding Mr Parradang’s death. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to ensure justice is served,” she added.

Parradang, who served in the NIS for over 30 years, held various positions before becoming Comptroller-General. His sudden death has left many in shock, with colleagues and associates expressing condolences to his family.
