Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has apologised to her colleague, Laide Bakare, over her reaction to Bakare’s name during a recent podcast appearance, expressing a desire to put their long-running disagreement behind them.
Badmus shared the apology in a statement on her Instagram page on Tuesday, admitting that her response during an interview on Isbae U’s Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast might have appeared dismissive.
“On reflection, I realise my reaction when Laide Bakare’s name was mentioned during my recent interview could have come across as dismissive, and for that, I sincerely apologise,” she wrote.
Directly addressing Bakare, the actress said she was willing to move beyond their differences and wished her colleague well.
“Laide, whatever our differences, I choose peace and I genuinely wish you well.”
Badmus also reflected on the importance of personal development, noting that growth sometimes requires people to learn from past experiences and release old grievances.
“We’re all growing, learning and becoming better versions of ourselves. Sometimes maturity is simply knowing when to let go and move forward,” she stated.
She concluded her message with a further appeal for reconciliation, urging an end to hostility and resentment.
“Joo maa binu. No negativity. No grudges. Let love lead and peace reigns.”
The apology comes after a clip from Badmus’s podcast interview went viral on social media. During the conversation, Isbae U mentioned Bakare as one of his favourite actresses, prompting Badmus to hiss and change her facial expression.
Her reaction attracted widespread attention online and renewed discussions about the strained relationship between the two Nollywood stars, who have had several public disagreements over the years.
One notable incident occurred in March 2024, when Badmus appeared to take a swipe at Bakare’s outfit at the latter’s book launch. Bakare wore a white outfit complemented by an orange cape, which generated mixed reactions on social media.

Reacting to the outfit, Badmus posted a comment on Instagram that many interpreted as a reference to her colleague.
“Ewo ninu yin lo wo Aso Pastor Ajidara. Abeg who??”
Bakare later expressed disappointment over the criticism, saying some colleagues seemed more interested in pointing out her perceived shortcomings than celebrating her accomplishments.
She also questioned why Badmus had singled her out, describing the actress as a childhood friend from their days at the University of Ibadan.
The tension between them resurfaced in April 2025 at the Lagos premiere of Eniola Ajao’s film, Owambe Thieves.
Videos circulating online showed the actresses involved in a heated exchange. Badmus was reportedly heard saying they were not friends and requesting that they should not be filmed together.
Badmus’s latest statement signals a willingness to move past the disagreements, as she calls for peace and asks that their differences no longer fuel negativity.
