The Edo State House of Assembly has summoned Natasha Osawaru, lawmaker representing Egor Constituency and wife of music superstar 2Baba, to appear before its Committee on Ethics and Privileges over alleged misconduct that members say has tarnished the image of the House.

The summons follows the circulation of videos online showing the first-term legislator in a heated argument with 2Baba, sparking widespread discussion across social media platforms.

Speaker Blessing Agbebaku, addressing the Assembly, emphasized that Natasha must appear before the committee within one week to respond to the allegations. He noted that her conduct has affected the public perception of the House.

“Hon. Natasha Irobosa has been summoned to appear before the Ethics and Privilege Committee of the Assembly due to her recent conduct which has been trending online. This conduct drags the name of the House into the mud and it is the responsibility of the members of the Assembly to conduct themselves well,” Agbebaku said.

He added that the House is made up of “cerebral minds” and that the actions of any member should not bring the institution into disrepute. “This House has members who know what they are doing and the attitude of our member has brought this House to disrepute and we will not tolerate it,” he stated.

The Ethics and Privileges Committee is expected to investigate the matter and submit its report within two weeks.

Natasha’s emergence in politics was seen as a fresh voice for Egor Constituency, particularly in advocating for women-focused and community development initiatives. Before joining politics, she was primarily known for her ties to the entertainment industry.

In November, the couple welcomed their first child together, a baby boy. Earlier speculation about her labour emerged after she was seen at a hospital, which she later confirmed via Facebook, announcing that they had been “blessed with a baby boy.”

Her scheduled appearance before the committee is anticipated to attract significant public attention as the House reviews her actions formally.
