When she removed Rodriguez from her name, everyone sensed there was trouble in Uche Jombo- Rodriguez’ marriage to Kenney, a Puerto-Rican.
They got married on May 16, 2012. A love-struck Uche revealed then that: “Contrary to what I’ve been hearing that I met him online, no I did not. He came to talk to me about some business venture and that’s how we started talking. I met him through a mutual friend who is his business partner.”
The marriage has produced a son.
The news of her change of name went viral and blogs started writing the ‘newest fatal love’ in Nollywood.
Why wouldn’t the story go viral when with celebrities the name is as important as the person—fans pay attention to names and when the name changes.
For a married woman to now drop her husband’s name from a public platform like Instagram where she has 1.7m followers, signifies she has dropped the ring and no longer in that marriage.

That was what Tonto Dikeh proved in January 2017 when she changed her name from Tonto Dikeh-Churchill to Tonto Charity Dikeh— she was done bearing her husband’s name and declared being single again.
The same was what Lillian Esoro did in 2016 when she walked out of her marriage to Tripple M boss, Ubi Franklin.
Again, the latest Domestic Violence victim turned advocate, pretty actress Mercy Aigbe, also dropped her husband’s name, Gentry. She is separated from Lanre Gentry.
So, when everyone woke up to see the name change on Uche Jumbo’s Instagram account bio, it was assumed the marriage was over.
But she quickly corrected that:
“Good morning ujlovers. …
Been on it for a while through my posts but officially taking my family off social media from today..please respect that! Thanks for understanding? stop with the evil insinuations.” (sic)
Despite her prompt response, many still believe everything is wrong with her marriage.
For Uche who spends the larger part of the year in Nigeria, shooting films, attending red carpet events and leaving her husband alone abroad, there is something she is trying to cover up.
That she celebrated her fifth wedding anniversary without a shout-out to her beau was worrisome, knowing she had always done this in the past with sweet words!
May 16 passed by without any indication that it was her wedding anniversary.
On June 18, Father’s Day, She quickly shared a photo of father and son.
She wrote, “Happy father’s day kenney.” (sic)
She didn’t bother to tag him!
Though truth has not been revealed, it’s obvious the next months will have much to reveal.
Just a week ago, she shared this post, “Inner peace begins the moment that you choose not to allow another person or event to control your emotions.”
True words.
May God save celebrity marriages!
