It is not common that an individual is awarded two honourary doctorate degrees in a day, and this iscoming just a few days after the same person bagged a prestigious fellowship from a top UK Institution.

But that has been the lot of Funmilayo Ayinke Waheed-Adekojo as she bags honour after honour for her philanthropic activities as well as her laudable achievements as a female Engineer and CEO of Funmi Ayinke Nigeria Limited.
In the last one year or so, the activities of the pretty female Mechanical Engineer has come to light after she was acclaimed to have reached out to thousands of widows and single mothers, providing both cash and empowerment equipment so as to ensure that they picked up their lives again and be able to fend for their families.

As the news of her philanthropy spread, more and more women came on board to enlist and she has ensured that none of them is left out.
Of course this has meant more and more people have been coming, yet she has not relented.

At Funmi Ayinke Humanity Foundation, the philanthropy is not limited women, youths have also been high beneficiaries. Students of Nigerian high institutions as well as secondary schools have all benefited from her milk of human kindness. The Raddison Blu Hotel in Ikeja Lagos witnessed the special event yesterday. In attendance were principal officers of the two Universities who came to honour Funmilayo Waheed Adekojo as well as those of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, where her husband, a former Deputy Vice Chancellor Waheed Adekojo, is a Professor of Engineering.

Led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Felix Kolawole Salako, others who came included the Registrar of the University, Dr Bola Adekola.

From the European American University, in Commonwealth of Dominica one of the two institutions that awarded Honourary Doctorate Degrees to FunmiAyinke Foundation boss were the Pro- Vice Chancellor and Head of All African Operations, DR Josephine, Egbuta. Professor Godwin Ezarefe, Director Research and Development, Professor Aro Olugbenga, Direcor of Academic Planning, Dr Fidelis Amaechi who is the Director of Administration and Programmes.

The University awarded her Honorary doctorate degree in Engineering Project Management and Corporate Governance.

While the other higher institution, Universite Protestant De l’Afrique West Africa had Dr Mike Omonbude, Registrar, Dr Shittu Sani Bolaji Ashamu, Coordinator, English Section, UPAO, Dr Omakoji Samson, Deputy Registrar, Professor Asiwaju Akande, Guest Convocation Lecturer to mention a few.

They awarded her Honourary Doctorate Degree in Public Administration. her the youths have the power to do thisStressing further on the power of the youths, she declared that it was time to stop talking and start acting and that there are in-built potentials in all the youths to build a new Nigeria they will also be proud of. To her, the time to act is now.
In his speech, the Vice Chancellor of FUNAAB, Professor Salako encouraged the honouree to do more because that was the essence of the Honour done to her.

He also used the opportunity to speak on the challenges the youths are facing in Nigeria with many of them feeling frustrated. According to the erudite scholar, the Funmilayo Waheed Adekojo example is enough for them to know that if she can make it in Nigeria, any of them can also make it in the country. He encouraged the youths to look inwards, tap into their God-given resources as well as look at what the country has to offer.

The citation read by both institutions were replete with the FHF founder’s achievements not only in the humanitarian field but also as a workaholic female Engineer who dared to thread where many young ladies will definitely hesitate to step. Tracing her background, the citations listed honour upon honours she has received and how she has impacted lives both as a corporate individual, through her NGO the FHF Foundation as well as her personal efforts.
In her speech, Funmilayo Ayike Waheed Adekojo spoke of the joy of the double honour and why she saw it as a challenge to do more for humanity as well as sent a powerful message to the youth.

According to her, the event brought hope despite the latest struggles she had personally faced.
