The Federal High Court in Lagos has adjourned the cyberstalking case filed against Nollywood actress Doris Ogala to June 9, 2026.

Ogala is being prosecuted following a suit instituted by cleric Chris Okafor, founder of Mountain of Liberty and Miracle Ministry, over a four-count charge bordering on alleged cybercrime-related offences.

The charges include publishing private materials without consent, spreading false information, cyberbullying, and attempted extortion.

The matter was, however, stalled on Thursday after the defendant failed to appear in court.

During proceedings, prosecuting counsel Tolulope Mokuola informed the court of Ogala’s absence and requested a bench warrant, insisting she had been duly served with the hearing notice.

In response, her lawyer, Temiloluwa Akindayini, told the court that her absence was due to health complications following surgery.

“My Lord, the defendant is indisposed, having undergone a surgical procedure on April 21, 2026,” he said. “She is currently in Abia state recuperating. An affidavit to that effect has been filed before this honourable court.”

However, the prosecution argued that the defence failed to properly serve the medical affidavit before the hearing and questioned the validity of the medical documentation submitted.

Presiding judge, Justice Akintayo Aluko, declined the request for a bench warrant, stating that the defendant should be given the benefit of the doubt since an affidavit had been presented to the court.

The prosecution also urged the court to insist that any future medical report should come from a government hospital and warned that the defence may be held accountable if Ogala fails to appear at the next hearing.

The case has now been adjourned to June 9, 2026.

Previously, the court had issued an order restricting Ogala and social media activist VeryDarkMan from mentioning Okafor and his ministry on social media.

The legal dispute stems from Ogala’s allegations that she was in a relationship with Okafor since 2017, claiming he influenced her separation from her former marriage and later failed to fulfill promises of marriage.

She had also demanded marriage or compensation, including a ₦1 billion damages claim.

In response, Okafor married his partner, Pearl, while initially dismissing Ogala’s allegations as emotional reaction, describing it as “the devil’s anger.”

He later issued an apology acknowledging a past relationship but subsequently withdrew it, saying he acted under pressure.
