The global entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning with the death of Swedish Disc Jookey, DJ Avicii.
The death came just a few days after the deceased was nominated for a Billboard Music Award for top dance/electronic album.
DJ Avicii was found dead in Oman.
His representative announced the death of the 28-year-old Disc Jockey in a statement which read:
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii.
“He was found dead in Muscat, Oman, this Friday afternoon local time, April 20.
“The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”
As at the time of filing this report, the cause of death was unknown however, sources mention that DJ Avicii had suffered acute pancreatitis, as a result of excessive drinking.
It may be recalled that he had his gallbladder and appendix removed in 2014, and cancelled a series of shows in attempt to recover.
Avicii’s club anthems include Wake Me Up, Levels, and recently, Lonely Together with Rita Ora.
Dj Avicii would be greatly missed by his family, friends, colleagues and fans. Up until his death, he won two MTV Music Awards, one Billboard Music Award and earned two Grammy nominations.
