Former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Melaye announced his resignation in a letter dated July 4, and addressed to the PDP ward chairman in Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu LGA of Kogi state
Melaye, who was the PDP 2023 Kogi State governorship candidate, said after deep reflection on the current state of the party, he could no longer, “in good conscience”, participate in its affairs or support its agenda.
“This decision has become imperative due to the lack of potency and capacity by the party to deliver the Nigerian people from the prevailing political cankerworms that have eaten deeply into the fabric of our dear nation.”
The resignation comes amid an ongoing national movement of the opposition coalition to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 General elections.
