Nigerian pop star, Davido seems not to be celebrating awards alone—he has decided to grow up and put the past behind him.
The father of two, whose first baby mama, Sophia engaged him in a battle of child custody in 2016, has publicly apologized to journalist/politician, Chief Dele Momodu over his utterances in the past.
Recall Davido and his baby-mama Sophia, were embroiled in a fight over the custody of their daughter Imade, a battle which went viral on the social media.
Sophia and her family, represented by Dele Momodu, reportedly started the drama after filing a petition against Davido and his family for alleged child trafficking.
This led Davido to releasing a lengthy recount of his side of the story via his Instagram handle which generated a lot of different views in the public domain.
Sophie had also sent a petition addressed to the Director-General National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons to prevent her daughter’s travel to Dubai with the Adelekes.
But Davido, who was rude to Dele Momodu, decided to apologize in 2016 after he was accused of child abduction.
Davido wrote: “Mr. Dele Momodu I apologise but …U didn’t have to.”
The artist insisted that the allegations against him were false, saying, “All these lies being put on me … no be today … I have so much to say but in respect for my daughter I will keep quiet … I apologiz.” (sic)
He appreciated his supporters and those “bashing” him, adding that “The truth will come out! Even if I don’t keep her, she will grow up to know I fought for her.”
Though Sophia and her daughter, Imade are back to Davido, the beef between the musician and the Momodu family still remained.
It was surprising on Sunday night when Davido breezed into the hall where the Ovation Carol 2017 was taking place.
Performing on stage, Davido, who had already disrespected Momodu in one of his songs, publicly apologized.
Hugging each other, Momodu posted this on Instagram:
True reconciliation, great joy… God bless DAVIDO… God bless DR ADEDEJI ADELEKE for his uncommon maturity… God bless the MOMODU family for that simple heart…
