Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre Sam Adeyemi and musicians Davido and Falz and 47 others have been sued by a man Kenechukwu Okeke over the #EndSARS protest which engulfed Nigeria in October.
Mr Okeke filed a criminal complaint before a magistrate court in Abuja against
50 persons saying during the riot, his properties were destroyed and the
defendants who promoted the #EndSARS protests must be brought to justice.
“Having initiated criminal proceedings against the #EndSARS
riots promoters at exactly 1052hrs WAT, 09/11/2020, we shall ensure that same
is diligently prosecuted in the interest of defence, public safety and public
order,” he tweeted.
Mr Okeke further said, “Here is a motion (ex parte) praying the magistratus for
an order directing that the charges and other subsequent court processes in
relation to the criminal proceedings be effected on the accused persons by
posting, publishing and sharing same as they become due via @Twitter.”
Other defendants listed include Aisha Yesufu, Burna Boy, Kiki
Mordi, Peter Okoye, Paul Okoye, Deji Adeyanju, Tiwa Savage, Banky W, Feyikemi
Abudu, and Debo Adebayo among others.
The case was instituted on Monday in agreement with sections 88, 109(a),
110(1)(c) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.
