Dangote Petroleum Refinery has officially begun selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at a reduced pump price of N739 per litre across all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations, signaling a major effort to make fuel more affordable and stabilise the downstream petroleum sector in Nigeria.

In a statement released on Sunday, the refinery highlighted that the new pricing would be implemented at over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide, ensuring that consumers across the country can benefit from the price cut.

The company also commended marketers who have already adopted the new pricing and urged others to follow suit to support the nation’s economic recovery.

“We commend MRS and other marketers who have demonstrated patriotism by reflecting the reduced price at the pump. We call on others to join this effort as a show of support for Nigeria’s economic recovery,” the refinery said.

Traditionally, the festive season in Nigeria is marked by fuel shortages and skyrocketing prices. By intervening decisively and reducing petrol prices during this period, Dangote Refinery is providing relief at a time when Nigerians typically face heightened fuel-related challenges. The refinery’s guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres is set to reshape supply dynamics during the holiday season.

Local refining at scale is also helping Nigeria mitigate the effects of volatile global oil markets, conserve foreign exchange, stabilise the naira, and bolster energy security.

The price reduction and steady supply are expected to benefit households, businesses, and transport operators nationwide. However, the refinery warned against attempts to artificially create scarcity or manipulate supply in response to the lower pricing, urging regulatory authorities to take action.

“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable. We urge regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices, especially during this critical festive period,” the statement added.

Consumers were also encouraged to avoid purchasing fuel at inflated rates and to report any MRS station selling above the official N739 per litre by calling 0800 123 5264.

The refinery further called on other petrol station operators to source its products to ensure that the benefits of the price cut reach all Nigerians, promoting broad-based relief and a more stable downstream market.

“Our objective remains clear: to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality petroleum products at affordable prices for Nigerians, while supporting economic stability and reducing dependence on imports,” Dangote Petroleum Refinery concluded.

The move marks a significant milestone in the refinery’s mission to strengthen Nigeria’s energy security, moderate fuel prices, and support long-term national economic interests.
