A coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) under the Stay Alert Human Right Awareness Initiative has expressed support for Senate President Godswill Akpabio, urging him to remain focused on delivering legislative interventions.
In a statement on Thursday, Executive Director Lary Onah passed a vote of confidence on Akpabio, praising his leadership of the 10th Senate as impactful and gender-tolerant.
Onah dismissed allegations of sexual harassment against Akpabio as a mere distraction aimed at undermining democracy and President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He also criticised Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent altercation over seating arrangements in the Senate, insisting she should apologise and withdraw her petition.
The CSOs announced plans for a solidarity march in support of Akpabio and the country’s leadership, urging the Senate President to remain undeterred by what they described as “cheap blackmail.”
