The Oyo State Governor, Mr Seyi Makinde has tested positive for Coronavirus.

The governor took to twitter to make the announcement as he goes into self isolation. In the same vein, he appointed Prof. Temitope Alonge to take over as the Head of the COVID-19 Task Force in Oyo State.

The governor tweeted:

“I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is POSITIVE. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate.

I have designated Prof Temitope Alonge, former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan, as the Head of COVID-19 Task Force while I recover fully. Please continue to comply with all the directives from the COVID-19 Task Force. Stay home, stay safe.”

He becomes the third governor to be infected with COVID-19.

First, it was Governor Bala Muhammed of Bauchi State. Then, the Ekiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
