There is palpable fear by the people of Delta State as Coronavirus ravages the Government House in Asaba.
On June 26, the Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa announced through his Chief Press Secretary that his daughter tested positive for Coronavirus.
This came as the Delta State Government intensified efforts at stemming the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
The statement also revealed that“consequently, the Governor and his family members will immediately commence self-isolation for 14 days”.
“It is again pertinent to stress that COVID-19 is real, and citizens are advised to be disciplined and comply with the protocols of wearing Face Masks and maintaining physical-distancing while in public places as well as basic hygiene of hand-washing with soap in running water and use of alcohol-based sanitisers as NCDC regulation demands,” the statement informed.
But on Wednesday, July 1, the governor disclosed through a post on his verified Facebook page that he and his wife, Dame Edith, also tested positive to Coronavirus.
Albeit he said, they are well and are on medication.
According to him: “My wife and I have tested positive for COVID-19. We are well and continuing with our isolation/medication. We thank you all for your continued prayers for us and our daughter. This is coming weeks after one of his daughters tested positive to the virus.
Other members of the family are still self-isolating.
